Principles

Build useful systems without losing control of their evolution.

Our principles connect architecture, experience, governance and operations within a single decision-making framework. They apply to platform, products and deployments.

Guiding principles.

Platform first

A transversal capacity is built once in the platform. Products consume it — they do not duplicate it.

Runtime first

The content and configuration must be able to evolve without unnecessary rebuilding. The runtime is where it changes, not the build.

Small batches

Changes remain small, documented and verifiable. A large deployment is a risk; a small batch is a trajectory.

No data loss

Operations preserve existing data and favor additive migrations. Breaking what already exists is a failure, not a compromise.

Evidence before assertion

Decisions and statutes are based on observable elements. A statement without proof is not public.

Distinct identities

Each product maintains a consistent brand and experience. The platform unifies what should be, not what should not.

When one principle comes into tension with another.

The principles are not absolute — they are a framework. When two principles conflict, arbitration is done on a case-by-case basis, publicly when the issue justifies it, and the decision becomes a traceable precedent. No principle has automatic priority; none are ever ignored without explanation.

Put these principles into practice.

For a new surface area, a migration or a shared capacity, we apply this framework from the initial framing.
